The Japanese version of PerfectDisk Rx Suite was released today in Japan, where PerfectDisk has over 90% of the disk defragmentation market. PerfectDisk Rx Suite is available for download in Japan today on the major Japanese download sites, and will be available in retail stores in a box in October. PerfectDisk and PerfectDisk Rx Suite are sold by NetJapan, our major distributor in Japan.

Don't be defeated -- choose to win the battle

I saw this last week in a press release from another company that provides disk defragmentation software. I read it once. Then I read it again, then a third time. I had a few other people read it to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. No, sure enough, this is what it said:

"...the bottom line is this: on an active volume, with a dynamic operating system and dynamic utilities, the disk volume free space situation is constantly changing. This, in conjunction with the algorithms used to allocate the free space, defeats the very best efforts of any defrag software the very next time you do something as simple as surf the web."

Wow. A company saying its "very best efforts" are defeated doing the job its product is supposedly setting out to do. Well, we don't give up so easily. Use PerfectDisk and get a big chunk of free space, so when you go to surf the web, your files aren't fragmented from the start.

They're your PCs and servers. Win. 

            

WoW -- Single file defrag for MPQ files -- and some wild costumes

Awhile back I wrote about the fact that many World of Warcraft players use PerfectDisk to automatically defragment their drives and get their big MPQ files in top shape. They get their regular updates, have their drive automatically defragmented and free space consolidated with Space Restoration Technology, and get on with playing. I had one WoW player contact me to tell me that there is also a large community of players who do use PerfectDIsk to regularly and automatically defragment their entire drive, but also use PerfectDisk's single file defrag to quickly defragment the large MPQ file only, and then get on with playing. Either way, if you play WoW, you know they MPQ files are big and have the potential for slowing you down, unless you take care of them.

By the way, for all you WoW fans, in case you haven't seen them, I came across this TechRepublic gallery of pictures from last month's semi-annual BlizzCon 2007 event in Anaheim, California. Besides getting to see and play some upcoming Blizzard games and compete in tournaments, they got to participate in a costume party - crazy stuff! For all you non-WoW players -- beware.

Announcing PerfectDisk 8 for Windows Home Server

Today we have released PerfectDisk 8 for Windows Home Server. Just recently, Microsoft announced that Windows Home Server would be launched on October 1st, 2007. We are pleased to make PerfectDisk available for this environment, at an attractive price. PerfectDisk is the first disk defragmenter available for Windows Home Server.

Microsoft categorizes the Windows Home Server features into these 4 topics -- protect, connect, organize and grow. While we can see real small businesses using it, Microsoft's marketing message emphasizes the family and the home (naturally, given its name), stating on the Windows Home Server home page that "Windows Home Server brings it all together for families with multiple PCs. Now it's easy to keep and share documents, photos, videos, and music--all in one central place. Protect, connect, and organize the way you keep and share your family's most important memories." It's a central repository and place to perform and store your backups.

With lots of files changing regularly, fragmentation will be an issue. PerfectDisk for Windows Home Server is easy to install, and requires no attention or management. Defrag your registry -- you're doing it

Smart people may debate whether or not you should use a registry cleaner. Some people swear by them; others warn you to stay away from them. But whichever side of that debate you fall on, it is certainly true that during normal Windows operation, data is constantly being written to and deleted from the registry. Over time, just like the rest of your drive, the data in the registry becomes fragmented. So those fragments and wasted space in the registry need to be cleaned up to improve your system's performance. Some have even put together "special" utilities to defragment the registry. But PerfectDisk can move the registry hives online, so when you're defrgmenting your entire drive with PerfectDisk, you're defragmenting your registry.

Trick out your computer for speed and security

Are you the type that can't settle for just good enough? If something's fast, you want it faster. If something is safe, you're still paranoid. Meet Dave Hungerford - he's your kind of guy. Previously a long-time user of you-know-what defragger, Dave made his switch about 18 months ago. He explained that he thought it wouldn't make a difference, but "boy was I wrong!" The shootout is over; PerfectDisk is the one left standing

The Great Defrag Shootout, started months ago by Donn Edwards on his Insights and Rants blog, has concluded. And the winner for Best Commercial Defragger is PerfectDisk. Donn went through exhaustive research and testing, and chose PerfectDisk for several reasons. In the end, Donn states that "...any commercial environment not using this product is wasting money..."

              

Steve Gibson "very impressed" with PerfectDisk

Steve Gibson, maker of SpinRite, recently disclosed on his Security Now broadcast that he uses PerfectDisk and is "very impressed" with it. The thing he likes most is PerfectDisk's ability to defragment all NTFS metadata. Read the transcript or hear it here.

Let's repeat this lesson -- PerfectDisk defragments all NTFS metadata; no other defragmenter does. PerfectDisk reports on all NTFS metadata; no other defragmenter does. This does not mean other vendors do not claim to defragment all metadata.
