American Library Association highlights PerfectDisk 2008
The American Library Association (ALA), a 100-plus year old organization, has a stated mission "to provide leadership for the development, promotion, and improvement of library and information services and the profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all." It's a lot about technology for libraries and librarians, and libraries these days are not your father's card catalog systems. These days, libraries are all about OPACs, or Online Public Access Catalogs. The world is full of information, and while millions go online to get their information these days, libraries are still a big deal in helping get at that information -- some call it Library 2.0.
The August edition of American Libraries, ALA's monthly magazine, highlights PerfectDisk 2008 Server in its New Product Showcase. The showcase mentions PerfectDisk's "capacity to defragment multi-terabyte drives," automation, and low resource usage and low free space requirements as particular benefits. Libraries want users to get information fast.
They found one tool that helps in a big way.
